It’s hard to believe that tomorrow night is the 11th installment of the All Things Gold concert series at the venerable and always awe-inspiring U Street Music Hall. Although that first night was nearly 11 months ago, I remember ATGold 001 like it was yesterday—I had just started writing for the blog and RAC, Penguin Prison, Reptar, and Brenton Duvall slew the crowd with a District-worthy party for the ages. One year later and ATGold is still going strong, this time paying homage to the series’ origin with a DJ set from tried and true hometown hero Brenton Duvall and headlining performance courtesy of five-piece indie British sensation, Mystery Jets.
Mystery Jets is stopping by to join the party as they tour North America promoting their most recent album, Radlands, a compilation of sassy, jangling Britpop gems that made their stateside release only last week. The album includes the Americana-inspired single “Greatest Hits,” for which the band just released a new video. Directed by Ben Morgan and Adam Morley, the piece follows the band around a post-breakup carnival ground romp that, despite looking like a good time, doesn’t hold a candle to what’s in store for you on Thursday night. Check out the video above, snag a copy of Radlands on iTunes, and come prepared to rage like it’s the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee all over again.
