Partition (Remix Ft. Busta Rhymes & Azealia Banks)
“Lemme give you the 2014 talk. My girl like Beyoncé. Me too.”
The thing about a Beyoncé remix is that it’s still all Beyoncé, all the time. Beyoncé, inspired by Beyoncé. Yes, this is a GREAT “Partition” remix. It’s one of the first Beyoncé remixes out of the gate (and about time), and may stay one of the best. But let no one think for a second that this is an Azealia Banks/Busta Rhymes track. The power rankings, even on the remix, go: 1. Beyoncé, 2. Azealia, 3. Busta. There’s hardly any room for Busta at all, other than his opening proclamation. Busta and Azealia add only what they need to the original, even (wisely) leaving in the French “men think feminists don’t like sex,” which is, after all, the whole point of “Partition.” To disprove that notion. Now driver, roll up the partition, please.
