Branches are no strangers to writer’s block. When writing the follow-up to 2017’s White Flag, the LA-SF outfit kept running into roadblocks. It wasn’t until band member Jacob Montague picked up a mandolin and plucked some notes that they broke through and came up with the concept behind “Out Of My Head.”

The track, which we’re premiering on ATG today, is a brooding but hopeful synth-pop tune that, according to the band, is about “exploring the gamble of love at its most uncertain.” It’s the first of three tracks on their upcoming All Along EP that “chronicles three big moments in a relationship.”
