Cam’ron offers his first release of 2014, “Humphrey,” from his upcoming EP collaboration with A-Trak,¬†Federal Reserve. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that these two veterans complement each other perfectly. Cam’ron matches his usual quality here, but his spoken lines in between are clever as well. “I didn’t fight to the top of the food chain to be a vegetarian” he offers after his first verse. The production, led by Party Supplies and A-Trak, is based around an old school beat with a piano and a drum, along with looped soul vocals. The result recalls Kanye West’s early work, and even uses a ‘Ye endorsement from a few years ago, “Cam got this shit to pop.” A-Trak closes out the last 30 seconds with his trademark scratching, and it’s a little victory lap for a short and sweet song that could predict a beautiful friendship.

Check out “Humphrey” below, and look for the Federal Reserve EP on Fool’s Gold Records, coming soon in 2014.
