Rappers can be moody fucks. Just look at Childish Gambino, a.k.a. Donald Glover of Community. Last week he Instagrammed a series of fears and self-doubts he’d written on hotel stationary, including, “I’m afraid people hate who I really am,” and “I’m afraid I’ll never reach my potential.” Glover also commented on the new Childish Gambino record in this format, revealing, “The label doesn’t want me to release in December because it’s not a holiday record and I’m not a big artist.”
Apparently Glassnote Records has changed their mind, because today Childish Gambino’s Because The Internet got a release date, December 10th. Also released: “3005,” the newest single off of the record. It’s a moody love song that echoes some of those handwritten insecurities about the future. Stream it below.
