For years now, Deerhoof have been experts at continuously changing without ever actually changing much at all. As much as they were almost ten years ago on their first albums, Deerhoof still showcase lead singer Satomi Matsuzaki’s unsettlingly gorgeous voice over an assault of fuzzy guitars and diverse drum patterns, but every album still brings something different to the table.

On the infectiously replayable “Acceptance Speech” — one of the many new songs off their upcoming LP The Magic — the four-piece cult indie pioneers find themselves being nothing if not fun. Fun has peekabooed in and out of Deerhoof’s output since the beginning, just look at something like “Gore in Rut” but the pop-style refrain and tambourine throughout bring this song to a whole new level of it.
