rostam vampire weekend

In the wake of today’s news that multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij is leaving Vampire Weekend — announcing that though he and Ezra Koenig will continue to collaborate his “identity as a songwriter + producer needs to stand on its own” — many people who like Vampire Weekend are finding out for the first time that there was someone in the band named Rostam.

Indeed, Ezra has always been the most visible member of the group; a popular Twitter personality and a Beats 1 Radio show goes a long way. But neither Rostam’s contribution to Vampire Weekend, nor his fantastic work outside the band, should be ignored. Here are ten songs that demonstrate to us that Rostam’s departure from Vampy Weeks could prove very productive indeed.
