Their was a time — let’s say the early ’00s — when “indie pop” meant something specific. Though it’s hard to put into words, it involved an arrangement of piano, guitars and the usual instruments that were distinctly (and soon to be ironically so) “indie.” Dutch Party‘s “Paper Moon” sounds like it was ripped right out of that period. The latest from the Echo Park outfit is a bouncy piano number that sounds like a cross between early aught pioneers Regina Spektor and Hot Hot Heat (which doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering the Ken Franklin-led project also features HHH’s Luke Paquin). Stream it below.
