Girlfriend On A Gap Year
Daniel and Gabe don’t have the time to make Future Teens a full-time thing. With their priorities lying in other bands — The Novel Ideas and Magic Man respectively — that comes as no surprise. But it’s that hobby side to it that influences their sound. “Future Teens is our musical analog to coming home after a long day’s work, loosening our ties and watching Jeopardy,” they tell Sound of Boston. “Both of the other bands we play in practice constantly and emphasize constant refinement and improvement. Future Teens will never be that; we want to play shows recklessly and, unfortunately, because we are each in touring bands, not as often as we might like.”
When they do make music, however, it’s great. Their second track “Girlfriend On A Gap Year” (perhaps the bizarro world counterpart to “Jude Law And A Semester Abroad“) is a sweet piece of gritty pop rock. Give it a spin below.
