New Jersey pop artist Halsey, with her incredibly strong internet presence, trendy aesthetic and voracious young fanbase, is proving continuously that she is far more than just a teen idol. “Hold Me Down”, her latest single and first off of her upcoming Badlands LP, is a dark, striking anthem about refusing to do what others tell you to. Sampling an infectious pulse from Son Lux‘s “Easy“, “Hold Me Down” manages to be both unapologetically angsty but still modern, cool and catchy with its sing-a-long hook. Badlands may not be out until late August — the 28th to be exact — but we think that this will be the Summer of Halsey. You’ll find us screaming along to “Hold Me Down” with the teens until we get some new music from the emerging queen of angst-pop. Listen below.
