Nothing in 2010 got my blood pumping faster than Jamaica‘s unexpected yet completely awesome single, “I Think I Like U 2.” It was the first track I featured on two separate mixtapes; a major faux pas but one I don’t regret in the slightest. The Parisian outfit released their first album, No Problems, shortly thereafter, which turned out to be one of this most well-produced, polished debuts in recent memory (Which makes sense given Justice and Daft Punk are at the helm). I loved the band so much last year that I even covered them again; writing about their second single “Short and Entertaining” and the 80s synth love-fest Breakbot remix of “I Think I Like U 2.”
I had been sitting on this Kovary remix of “I Think I Like U 2″ for over six months now, embarrassed to post it since you all might realize the extent of my obsession with Jamaica. Today, though, I couldn’t control myself. The Budapest-based DJ adds a whole new dimension to the track, transforming it from frantic dance pop to Eric Prydz “Call On Me” proportions. Coming from me, that’s just about the highest compliment I can offer.
