Leave Me Alone (Ft. Shay Lia)
Montreal based producer Kaytranada makes dance music you can actually dance to. Something of a novel concept in a time where songs seem to exist more as an excuse for a light show. Build and drop, fine, but does it groove? In the case of his latest track “Leave Me Alone,” the answer is an unequivocal yes. The song has a full sounding beat with a shaker that fades in and out along with a funky bass synth. A simple keyboard riff works in the background underneath vocalist Shay Lia, who provides her own backing vocals with some “ooh’s” to go with a quick sung chorus. The most impressive thing here might be the structure, which gives each section of the track ample time to breathe and build on itself. As long as he’s making infectious jams like this, we’re not planning on leaving Kaytranada alone anytime soon.
