Label:
Genre: Indie
Sounds Like: The Shins, Bombay Bicycle Club
It has been three long, desolate years since we’ve had new music from Local Natives, who been very low-key since 2013’s Hummingbird and the late popularity of “Airplanes”, the indie-cult hit that, like Grizzly Bear’s “2 Weeks” before it, took them from an LA-local record store fave to a must-see festival act that everyone had on their “Spring” Spotify playlist in 2014 (despite its release in 2010). “Past Lives” harkens back to the same brand of nostalgic, bittersweet, beat-driven indie rock that put Local Natives on the map, but with a somewhat heavier hand. Powered by guitar licks and a crackly, distorted bass line, “Past Lives” proves that sad boys can rock out too.
