Majken brings Danish charm to LA with new record, “Dancing Mountains”

Los Angeles via Denmark artistĀ Majken has been keeping busy ahead of her record release. With two EPs under her belt and four video teasers that highlight a talent from a bottomless well, she’s ready and streaming twelve tracks baked in the California sun.

Opening with “Dreaming of Franco”, Majken builds a foundation of classic indie, with playful strums and a charming, monotone recitation of the pitfalls of a relationship. As she channels beachy styles well known in these parts, she rewrites the narrative to fit her own vision.

As a writer, she flows with a stream of consciousness uncharacteristic of the standard pop styles. It’s the story of a traveling musician who wants to live in the moment while establishing artistic roots in the ever changing soil beneath herĀ  feet. As a musician, she takes a deceptively minimalist approach. While no single instrument leads any charges, each are layered and balanced with a healthy dose of fuzz.
