Brooklyn’s own Maxo, fresh from future-ATG’s picks of 2014, has been characteristically busy since we last checked in on him, reupping chiptune mixes from four years ago and posting pelagic VGM workouts. You know, Maxo stuff. To start off 2015, he’s dropped another real-life stunner, “Eddy Vancouver,” through Activia Benz’s Singles Club. If that stamp isn’t enough to pique your interest (given the consistency with which faves like Guy Akimoto, Jonah Baseball and others have offered up wacked-out bangers through the series) give the track a spin anyway. The bent sonics turn on a dime from filtered Rhodes to Genesis-era blips and bloops to starry Sophiesque synths, and there’s no telling what’s coming, with fakeouts and fades galore where you least expect them. Sticky melodies, tricky production, no save points — ”Eddy Vancouver” is another wild and wonderful outing from an up-and-comer who refuses to put a foot wrong.
