Neon Indian is finally back after a two year break. New track “Annie” is another slice of his special brand of pop music, sounding like time portal communications between the 80s and the future. It’s also a strong showcase for Palomo’s ability to get hooks into listeners, and by the end of the song you’ll be bopping and shaking to that little opening riff. Between choruses, the track takes on a kind of reggae or rocksteady beat as the guitar and drum work in tandem. It’s a sonically rich song, with lots of sounds and textures bouncing around and distorted voices popping up underneath to give it that time machine feel. If Alan Palomo pulls up in a DeLorean, we’re getting in. Give “Annie” a spin below.
