Parekh & Singh Fill Us In On Their Listening Habits

parekh singh

India isn’t the first place you’d expect to export indie pop. Consider us surprised though the first time we laid ears on Parekh & Singh. The Kolkata duo are quite adept at making smooth tunes, including highlight “Philosophize” below. We recently had the chance to ask these guys what they’ve been listening to lately. Check out their recommendations below.

Dams of the West – “Death Wish”

The humour in the lyrics is a perfect foil to the classic production of the music. This is a song that belongs exclusively to this generation. You feel like you’ve grown up a little by the end of it.

Mac Miller – “Dang (Ft. Anderson .Paak)”

Such a great song with a sleek and stylish hook. The wonderful harmony and the solid groove work perfectly with these lyrics that are just too cool for school.

Drake – “Hotline Bling”

We’re both huge fans of Drake. His personality shines through on the song. Unique melodies and a really cool drum part, quirky but still very impressive as always.

Nine Inch Nails – “Copy of A”

Trent Reznor and his band are geniuses. This whole album is pretty perfect. Perfect production set against angsty muscles. We love NiN.

Travis Scott – “Antidote”

Such and intriguing song. This really works on many levels. It’s great when artists explore darkness in different ways. This is a study in melancholic expression, very powerful.
