East Coast met the West Coast, if only for a brief moment, on Monday. Concert-goers witnessed this temporary merge at the 9:30 Club when Los Angeles based band, LANY made the Washington D.C. stop of their Kinda Tour. The tour is in support of their recently released and fourth EP, Kinda. TRANSVIOLET, LA natives as well, opened the show. The electro-pop foursome prepped the audience for the night with an array of songs, none of which sounded at all the same. LANY opened up their portion of the show show with Whitney Houston’s 1991 performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner” playing on the three screens set up behind the band. LANY followed that iconic performance with their ebullient song “4EVER.” The lighting had a similar feel as something you would see at a1975 concert, but even more colorful. The intimate but energy-packed night came to a high during the band’s final song of their encore, “ILYSB (i love you so bad).” Check out our photos below.
