Polartropica 1

Polartropica‘s latest single, “Crystal Ramen”, kicks off like the quintessential pop song in full force. Universal synth energy builds quickly like an overloading phaser, but soon levels out with mellow bass line that hints at funk undertones. Lines of uncertainty call out for understanding and compromise with positive vibes and optimistic melody. Listen below.

Be sure to catch Polartropica at Echo Park Rising‘s Trencher stage Saturday at 9pm, followed by a show at The Smell for FIERCE HEART, a benefit for the Youth Justice Coalition.

On the new single, frontwoman Ihui Cherise Wu says, “I wrote it watching a friend’s relationship crumbling to pieces…when someone you love and trust slowly becomes a person that is distant and even harmful to keep in your life. The subject is dark, but hopeful and self-reflective.  I tried to keep the music dreamy, ethereal but still dramatic/cinematic because our lives are all like little movies and episodes. :)  Some experiences are more pleasant than others…A crystal cool chill jam for your hot summer.”
