Earlier this year we highlighted the psychedelic revivalism of London’s Antimatter People — led by songwriter Yehan Jehan — and their fantastic track “Mossy Grounds.” Their sound is nostalgic yet crisp, forgoing the typical lo-fi sound of their compatriots and relying solely on their musical chops to channel some of the best acts of the 60s and 70s. Their latest effort “The Cipher” builds on the foundation of “Mossy Grounds,” injecting elements of pop and soul to create a monster of a track that deserves consideration sans historical comparison. Although that’s all before they serve up a classic Pink Floyd-style outro just past the three-minute mark. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with that.
This here’s a band that deserves to be in the upper echelon of modern psychedelic music alongside bands like Tame Impala and Foxygen. Stream “The Cipher” below and make sure you keep on eye on these guys.
