For a band with only one track to their name, Bassh are doing pretty damn well. “Body” is the first to come from this Nashville twosome and the Bill Reynolds (Band Of Horses) produced tune has already been spun quite a bit on radio. Today we’re premiering an acoustic version of this alt-pop gem, which Jimmy Brown and CJ Hardee recorded during a visit to Idobi Radio. Watch it above or listen to the track by itself below. We also had a quick chat with Bassh, which you can check out along with tour dates after the jump.
Was there a moment that made you decide that you wanted to pursue music seriously?
Jimmy Brown: Yeah, I was in Hickory, NC and I decided after a week of playing piano and writing that I was going have a career in music. I still remember that moment even though it was 10 years ago.
What was the best live show both of you have ever seen?
JB: U2 in Dublin at Croak Park. It was spiritual with rock ‘n’ roll and the energy of 90,000 people singing “One” was unforgettable.
Do you think the meaning of a song like “Body” is changed when pared down to an acoustic version?
JB: No, not at all. It’s been going over really just on acoustic too!
How did you two meet?
JB: We met at a gig in Charlotte, NC years ago and then played in a band together, which lead to us writing together.
What’s the benefit of having the two of you share lead vocal duties?
JB: CJ wrote the verse he sings so it made sense for him to sing that part.
What are you interested in making and doing as your career progresses?
JB: I’m interested in the unknown. I want to experiment and push myself in my writing and my live delivery and I know CJ feels the same.
Favorite recent act to come out of the Nashville scene?
JB: Repeat Repeat.
