“Watery Dreams,” the latest single from Santa Barbara electronic indie-pop outfit Mexico City Blondes, follows the trend of aptly named tracks from the duo of Allie Thompson and Greg Doscher. First came “Fade,” then “Colors,” and now “Watery Dreams,” which sounds a bit like the musical equivalent of watercolor painting; smooth instrumental brushstrokes, softened vocal edges, and a muted feel throughout the track. It’s no wonder “Fade” made it to the top of the Hype Machine charts, and it’ll be no surprise when “Watery Dreams” drifts its way to the top as well. Have a first listen below.
