OYLS is a band familiar with failure. And what can one do when down and out but put their hands up and dance? Surrender, but to the beat. David Kirshenbaum and Michael Lipp had previous, much different lives but now they’ve come together and created “Maps.” Navigation is key but “Maps” is what happens when the key becomes smaller and smarter and more pernicious. It’s another timely electronic, booming dance beat pondering the mechanics of our world, the technology, and repetition. It’s conditioning.

Here’s what Michael Lipp had to say about the track:

Lyrically, there’s an “its alright” motif throughout–The lyrics came about through reflections during this post college transition time. And “its alright” kept coming up in my self talk and characterized the time in my life with a lot of complexity. As a mantra that sometimes was doubt, reassurance, repression, acceptance.
