Chamberlin is back in town again headlining an East Coast swing and raising money for Vermont flooding victims. Last time we checked in with them, they had just released Bitter Blood, were about to start a summer sprint, and were on the brink of losing their first, beloved trailer. This time they are coming through on their aptly named “Double American Tour” and have recently finished “cabinizing” (yeah, that’s a verb) some familiar tunes from some ATG all-time favorites, including Passion Pit and Foster the People. Chamberlin are a formidable presence on stage, changing the tempo on stage on a whim and using an abundance of expansive and enthralling harmonies. Sixth & I Historic Synagogue is is going to get rocked on Saturday.
Their EP release entitled “Cabin Covers” takes pop favorites and re-imagines them alone, in the woods, in a log cabin, drinking whiskey. Think Kanye West and Vampire Weekend picking up acoustic guitars and singing around a campfire. Frontman Mark Daly’s voice makes these more than “just another cover” songs, he infuses emotion into the words adding depth and meaning.
Get the EP here and help Vermont get back on its feet, then see them Saturday at 9:00 p.m.
