I unabashedly love RL Grime. He may be bro-ready trapstep and you may find his merch on your favorite high-school-friend-turned-EDM-fanatic who posts too much from Bernie Sanders Dank Meme Stash, but damn if he can’t get my blood pumping. 2014’s “Core” shows just how well he can flip a sample, and “Aurora” has followed that up perfectly. With enough glimmer and gleam to fall off a Rustie album, “Aurora” follows the generic buildup – drop – repeat formula we’ve come to expect from white dudes making trap music, but it’s joyous feel will lift you up and its lower tones will treat your Alpines the way they ought to be treated.
