In another world, the sample that gives “Pretty Green” its name would provide a very standard emotional baseline for a very standard, four-on-the-floor EDM track. Spinee, the PC Music affiliate who produced it, would rake in that Avicii dough with some towering strobes and Vegas-quality pyro. Fortunately for the human population, the track is nothing of the sort, and (un?)fortunately for Spinee, she’s not that kind of producer.
“Pretty Green” is wacked-out in the tradition of the netlabel’s past successes — think an addled combo of Warlord’s cheese-rave edit of “Caladhort” by Life Sim and Tielsie’s overwhelmingly off-time “Palette.” In non-PC Music terms, that’s to say that the joy-buzzer lineage of Rustie, S-Type, Cashmere Cat et. al. is fully in play. The track is up for download, along with remixes from D.J. Detweiler and Anamanguchi (which are beamed in from two polar opposite ends of the galaxy), and an off-the-wall banger called “Man Eaten by Dog,” the title of which only fails to describe its sound in that it sounds like several men being eaten by several dogs. For sheer hands-aloft pangs of delight, the title track will do. Stream it below.
