Sure Sure, Emerson Star and Street Joy at The Satellite

We went out on the town this weekend to The Satellite in Silver Lake to catch locals Emerson Star, Street Joy and Sure Sure (we recently premiered their video for “Friends”). Check out some photos from our photographer Justin Bieggar below.

This four-piece of Los Angeles natives have been in the game for a few years now, delivering a silky essence with dark indie pop. Covering love and the coming of age, the band ended their set with a disclaimer: “So this is the part when we make everyone really depressed”.

Under static red light, the local duo kicked up the tempo and got some feet moving with crisp and buttery jams. With an electronic twinge, they crept through the audience, covering Van Halen’s “Hot For Teacher” with contemporary chill.

After covering their video for “Friends” last week, we got a chance to follow up quickly and catch their set here. The guys crooned to a packed house that hung on every word and brought out two friends to sing backup for a few, notably their fantastic cover of “This Must Be The Place”, by Talking Heads.
