The Local‘s latest steady jam is more of a yoked out earworm punching its way through to the auditory nerves and planting a flag. “Racing” offers more than just a catchy tune, opting for a higher status in our collective consciousness with dark imagery displayed in charming contrast. Our subject is a wayward daughter of the city, appearing to search for answers in a mysterious stranger. Blending elements of Americana, folk and alt rock from its Golden Age – the 90’s – the band clearly know where they come from and reveal deeper meaning between those lines. Produced by Brian McTear (War On Drugs, Local Natives, among others), the upcoming EP promises a treasure trove of pop songwriting interchangeable for fans across the spectrum.

Reverie is out May 18th via Wednesday Records and is available for pre-order here.
