There’s been a massive spike lately in the popularity of bedroom pop artists, but if you’re looking for the leader of the pack then look no further than Youth Lagoon. Trevor Powers’ 2011 debut album, Year of Hibernation, was met with massive praise and for good reason; standout tracks like “Posters” and “Montana” will always have a home in our headphones here at ATG. With his sophomore follow-up, Wondrous Bughouse, Powers laid further claim to his ability to not only construct beautiful headphone music, but also fill venues with his rich and magnetic songs. “Youth Lagoon is something so personal to me because writing music is how I sort my thoughts, as well as where I transfer my fears,” explains Powers. Having garnered rave reviews for his live performances all across the nation it’s safe to say that this show at the best big room in America, the 9:30 Club, on Monday, September 16th will be a must-see.
As you can see above, Youth Lagoon is not afraid to get creative when it comes to naming his studio albums. With that in mind, we here at ATG can’t help but wonder what cool names our loyal fans would name their studio albums. For a chance to win a pair of tickets to the 9:30 Club show, let us know in the comment section below exactly what creatively awesome name you’d attach to your debut album.
