In advance of his upcoming fourth album as Toro Y Moi, Chaz Bundick presents a break from much of his recent output. “Empty Nesters” finds the singer/producer turning away from the electronic dance sound of last year’s Michael (released under his Les Sins moniker) and the dubby R&B-inflections of 2013’s Anything in Return. Instead, Bundick’s return to the Toro mantle boasts a more rockish approach — a style explored previously on his June 2009 compilation. The artist’s penchant for spacy synths is still evident near the song’s end, complimenting the poppy guitars throughout. Check it out below.
