Violent Soho – In The Aisle

The other week we posted about “In The Aisle,” the first single off Violent Soho‘s third LP, Hungry Ghost. The Brisbane four-piece has just put out a video for the tune and if it doesn’t bring a smile to your face then there must be a Sarlacc living in your chest.

The video is a mini-documentary of a Brisbane legend—at least he should be considered one—named Dario. As the song chugs along, the cameras follow Dario as he goes on his annual nude bike ride around the Brisbane. Right from the get go it’s very clear that Dario loves what he’s doing and only wants to share the joy and freedom of riding naked on a bike with the city he clearly loves.

Just like seeing a naked man on a bicycle, this song should catch you off guard. You’ve seen a naked person before, but probably not cheerfully riding around city streets on a bike. You’ve listened to Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and the like, but definitely nothing similar sounding in this context. Violent Soho are doing something very, very cool; they’re breathing new life into the grungy, alt rock of the ‘90s and helping to fill the void where Rock and Roll once reigned supreme. Watch “In The Aisle” soundtrack Dario’s bike ride above.

Violent Soho’s Hungry Ghost is slated to be released on September 6th via Australia’s I OH YOU Records.
